An original 19th century lithograph for the very important Le Regne Animal portfolio by Mr. Baron Cuvier. Baron Cuvier (1769-1832) was a French zoologist and naturalist, and a very scientific mind of the 19th century. Cuvier established that extinction was a fact and was an opponent of early evolution theory. He founded vertebrate paleontology as a scientific discipline and wrote and lectured on natural history. These rare lithographs were wonderful visual aids for the classroom and lab. . They are in very good condition.
